VQG Retreat
Retreats are fun! Each person brings their own projects to work on. We usually have a challenge to bring a completed top or quilt that is donated to Service, and there is a prize! We also play Bingo and Left, Right, and Center. There is a block drawing; make a block to have a chance to win all of them, we have 2 blocks to choose from. You can make one or both, and make as many as you like of each. There is also a gift exchange, you can bring up to 3 gifts and you get 3 gifts in return. Gifts must be quilt related and have a value of $25 or more. As always there are snacks to share!
The Valley Quilters Guild retreat is a time set aside, twice a year, to gather together as members of the guild. Our time is spent working on our own projects, visiting with other attendees, eating the great snacks brought by attendees, and playing games – Bingo and the Left-Center-Right fat quarter game.
The retreats are currently being held at the Palmer Depot and begin on the 4th Thursday in February and October.
The retreats run through Monday – 5 days of sewing, visiting, eating, and playing.
Registration begins three months/meetings prior (December and August) and on average has been $55 and open to members in good standing.
The next retreat will be held in the Palmer Depot February 26–March 2, 2026. The cost is $50, and tickets will go on sale on December 5, 2025, at 9 a.m.
Currently, the Depot has approximately 36 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis and allotted a space of approximately 8 feet, which is great for laying out your projects.
The February 2026 Retreat
The February 2026 Retreat starts on Thursday, 2/29 and ends Monday 3/2. You can arrive on Thursday at 11am. All other days we open at 9am. We can until sew until 11pm on Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun. Monday is 9 am to 3pm (must be packed and out by 3pm).
The store discount list was sent to attendees. Be sure to mention that you are a retreat attendee before checkout begins. Support our local quilt shops!
The blocks for the drawing are below. You can enter as many as you want to make, each entry is a chance to win them all. If you are printing the instructions, there are 2 pages for each block.
Antique Tile - Fabric 1 is Medium Blue, Fabric #2 is Light Blue print, Fabric #3 is white
Eccentric Star - Fabric #1 is Floral, Fabric #2 is Yellow, Fabric #3 is white
We have a gift exchange, which is optional. If you want to participate, you can bring up to 3 gifts valued at least $25, which must be sewing related, wrapped (or in a bag). PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT YOUR NAME ON THE INSIDE SO THE RECIPIENT KNOWS WHO TO THANK!!!
Some people give little gifts to everyone. THIS IS OPTIONAL! Some examples are FQ's, hand lotion, lip gloss, pencils or something you made. Definitely inexpensive. If you are new, you can always ask someone who has attended before for some ideas.
There will be a drawing for 2 raffle baskets. The tickets are $.50 each and the money received at this retreat is what we use to buy the goodies for the next retreat's basket. SO BRING YOUR CASH TO BUY TICKETS!!
