Our purpose is to:

1. Contribute to the knowledge and appreciation of fine quilts;

2. Sponsor and support quilting activities;

3. Encourage quilt making and collecting; and

4. Promote the growth of knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, history and quilt makers.
    

​​Classes: 

Education schedules local and Outside teachers, trying to vary classes taught and those requested, taking into account beginner and more advanced quilting members. 
 

​Challenges:
We schedule various Challenges to be completed at specific dates, sometimes with member voting, and with prizes. 2026 Challenges include:

1. Orphan Block Challenge due at May mtg.

2. Patriotic 250-yr Celebration of Country - Star Block in Red/white/blue due at July mtg.

3. $50 Gift Certificate drawing in Dec for a member who has completed the most UFOs

4. $50 Gift Certificate drawing in December for a member who has made all the 2026 BOMs. 
    

Drawings:
Education has the following Monthly Drawings that you must participate in to win: 

• A monthly Block of the Month (BOM) drawing, with a maximum entry of 2 entries (blocks or parts of an entry sometimes vary). These are demoed at Open Sew. 

• A monthly Fat Quarter (FQ) drawing with a maximum entry of 3 of the fabrics/colors to be used in the next month's BOM.

• A monthly Education FQ Packet, donated by Education to encourage participation. You must have entered the current month's BOM to be eligible to win. 
   

Monthly Open Sew Demos:

• Quilting Techniques will be demonstrated by Education members at each Open Sew.

• Pattern ideas may also be shown.

• Instructions for the next month's BOM will be taught. 
   

Bucket List Drawing

The Education Committee challenges members to complete their unfinished projects by running the monthly Bucket List drawing. The drawing is for a Quilt Shop $15 Gift Certificate. 

• For each quilt or quilted item completed you will receive one ticket in the drawing.

• Quilts must have been started any time before Jan 1, 2025.  Any quilts that qualify can be added to your Bucket List through the month of March.

• New members or those with no UFOs can begin a card with quilts they would like to make.

• Text/Email Jeannie Snodgrass photo/description or bring photo or quilt to the Education Table at the Guild Mtg to check items off and get a ticket for the drawing.
