Guild Challenge

 

The Education Program Challenge will be Orphan Block Quilts, a year-long Challenge until July 2026.

  • Coordinated packets for individual members are available, or choose a friend or friends to make it with.

  • July sign-up sheet – request orphan blocks you would prefer to work with:

    • Christmas, Fall, Pastel, Bright, Kids, Particular Color Combo, Totally Scrappy, Floral, Alaskan, Outdoorsy, Patriotic/QOV, Flannel, etc.

    • OR you can just be surprised with a packet.

  • Quilts will be donated to Service. – If a Quilt of Valor (QOV), it will be donated to one of the two local QOV groups.

  • Member judging will be at the May 2026 Guild Meeting.

  • Two prize baskets filled with quilting goodies will be awarded. One basket will go to the Members’ Favorite, as voted by the membership. The second basket will be awarded by drawing from all members who enter a quilt.

  • Donations to the quilting baskets are welcome—please feel free to contribute through the Education Committee.

Free ideas and help with Orphan Block Quilts:

Orphan Block HELP will be ongoing at Open Sews and the Monday Sew day at the Palmer Sr Center. Education members will be available to help you with your orphan block quilts – how to combine blocks, how to connect with coping strips, etc. Extra small blocks will be available to choose from to add to your quilts – strips, squares, pinwheels, 4-patches, 9-patches, hourglass blocks, flying geese, etc. in a variety of colors.
