"3-D Block" by Ruth

 

1 entry is 1 block. Colors: Black, and light & medium print fabrics. 9 inch block

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

Black fabric 

1- 2.5" X 2.5" Square

1- 2.5" X 5" strip

1- 2.5" X 7" strip

 

1- 5" flowered square medium color

2- 2.5" X 7" medium / light strips Matching ( same fabric)

 

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Sew the 5" black strip to the flower square.

Sew the 7" black strip to the flower square so that the black strips meet.

Sew one of the 7" medium / light strips to the black square.

Sew the 7" strip (with out the black square) to the flower square.

Sew the strip with the black square to the flower square. The Black square should be on the opposite side from the  black strips.

In the video below, Ruth Sielaff demonstrates how to put together the 3D Block. Two corrections to note: in the video, Jeannie refers to using light and dark fabrics, but it should be light and medium fabrics. Also, toward the end of the video, when Ruth is working with the large black triangles to create the border, she mistakenly refers to it as the binding rather than the border.
